Mine Road are an energetic hard rock band from county Dublin who really capture the sound of 80s and 90s rock and I'm really enjoying their 2024 album, Tomorrow's Sky. The band who first formed in 2012 now consists of Ken Carthy on vocals, Stuart Cash on rhythm guitar, Dave Flood on lead guitar, Peter Eamon Carroll on bass and Stephen Cash on drums. I like their traditional rock sound and I'm really reminded of bands like The Cult and Def Leppard. The lead guitar is a classic blues rock style and the solo on their song Tightrope is in a style similar to that of Slash (...that means it's fucking awesome). The vocals of Ken Carthy are diverse and suitable to multiple styles of rock genres, while the rhythm section provides a thunderous beat that would provide the perfect backdrop for any party or festival. This is a band who would really capture festival audiences.

What I like best about Mine Road is that while they know how to rock as hard as anyone, they are also gifted song writers who know when to slow the pace down, whether that's mid song like the REM style breakdown in the wonderful, Into The Storm or the radio friendly American Dream.

Go check out Mine Road and while you're at it, listen to their brilliant 2018 EP, Satelite, if you want to start with something a little heavier and more grungy sounding. It's class and Nightmare is a stomper!
