BABYRAT | Ready to Gnaw at Your Ears
BABYRAT are one of the most exciting new bands I've come across in some time. Self-described as 'bitch-pop', the four-piece Cork band fronted by the charismatic Zoe Jordan, are a pop punk band full of infectious vocal melodies, loud guitars and a sense of fun that most bands tend to lack these days, in my opinion.
I've had the pleasure of seeing BABYRAT live and they are made for the stage. They appear to have put in valuable time to get out there and gig, build a following organically and then start releasing music. I think it's going to work out well for them as they're ready to take any chance that comes their way. Their live show is packed full of feel-good energy, big choruses, punchy riffs, hair swinging and fist-pumping. The lyrics are cheeky and playful and it's... so enjoyable!
BABYRAT have just released their debut single, Roses. It's the song they start every live show with, so it seems like the logical starting point. It's a great introduction to the band which showcases their individual musical talents as well as their overall chemistry. It's a perfectly constructed pop song, delivered with a punch that will get every rocker's attention.
I do think they have better songs to follow such as First to Know. Can't wait to hear a proper recording of that one!
