MINDRIOTmt is a hard rock band from Mitchelstown in Cork who have just released their second full length album, Miracles & Mysteries. The band features Tony Gorry on lead guitar/vocals, Dave Fogarty on rhythm guitar and Niall O’Brien on drums. The latest 11 track release from the band is one that I've been playing quite a bit over the last few days and I've really enjoyed the heavy riffs and soothing vocal melodies. The album opens with the brilliant, Hello Goodbye, which is the perfect introduction to this band, The song is heavy and features crunching guitars at times but it's really melodic for the most part and the chorus is as good as you'll get. It's probably my favourite track on the album, due to the chorus being so infectious and well set up by a tempo change just before it, which allows it to put its foot to the floor!
The slower paced, Anne Marie, isn't far behind and another song that I've been revisiting a lot. It's got an indie/alternative quality about it until it crunches into rock mode and the song really comes to life in the second half. Other stand out songs on the album for me are, Soldiers, Hang me Out, Indecision, Wish You Well and Down on Me. It's a really solid album overall and well worth checking out!
MINDRIOTmt have been going for a while now and they have had some good success in the past. Check out their 2017 single, I See the Light, as it's one of their stronger tracks. Hopefully this new album will elevate them to greater heights. It's certainly got the songs to do so.
