Frosty Bannisters is a two-piece, underground, garage band from Dublin who have just released their second album, 'Pt. 2'. It's a brilliant collection of songs, full of jangly rhythm guitars and memorable moments, with lyrics that make you think, and melodies that just feel fun and stick in your head. Their music is not fancy or overproduced and does not try to follow the pack. It feels authentic as a result. You can tell that they're just writing the songs that flow and feel natural and it really works well, in my opinion.
Frosty Bannisters released their self-titled debut album in 2024 and it's a soulful listen with the fantastic track Hypocrite being the standout so far on my playthroughs. It's just so full of fun and energy and calls us all out!
Pt. 2 is a tremendous follow-up album which was just released on Dec 31st, 2025. I've given it several listens and plan to listen many more times. I love the retro feel it brings by being so stripped back and raw. The album starts off with the brilliant bluesy, folk track called 'Old Hearts and Humble Pie' before moving on to my favourite Frosty Bannisters song, 'The Boots'. This song sums up the band really well with a brilliant melody, killer riff, some excellently chosen chord changes and a political message. Their music is loose and off the cuff and the recordings feel like a well captured live performance. There is a vibrant energy in their music and it feels very organic. 'Driving Me Wild' is a masterpiece of a song that has some tasty guitar hooks and licks throughout. (I can imagine this song being covered by a major rock band in twenty years' time!) 'Postcodes' is another song with a brilliant old-school melody that reminded me of The Small Faces and other bands of that era. All nine songs on this album are great in their own way and I feel there might be something for everyone in there somewhere. I'm really happy to have been made aware of this band and feel like they could be one of those bands that go on to inspire a lot of other bands going forward. I'd also like them to get the attention and support they deserve now so please go and check them out. Last word is from the band...
In the words of Frosty Bannisters:
"We write about political issues, militarism and the false dichotomy of left vs right which is imposed on people through coordinated propaganda... we’re an old school punk/garage outfit who say uncomfortable things because we believe it to be true and that it’s important."
