Ellen Beamish is a Limerick based singer-songwriter, producer and former guitarist of the band Speakers, who I've written about previously. Ellen is currently working on developing her career as a solo artist with three singles released to date. She is an extremely talented artist and producer who has worked with some interesting up and coming bands and musicians.
Her debut solo single, Eternal Summer is one that I really like and is a song that she wrote when she was just 16! It's a really sweet and wholesome track with a nice beat and a chorus that feels emotionally therapeutic. It's a brilliant song. The follow up single, Walk Over Me is another easy listen indie track where it feels like Ellen is focused on self healing and discovery. Another good listen with summer vibes.
Ellen Beamish has just released her third solo single, Alone. In her own words, it is her
"...heaviest song to date. Alone is about standing up for yourself, finding your strength in the uncertainty of your future and realising that being alone isn't a bad thing but the most fertile place to grow."
Firstly, the production in Alone is fantastic right from the start. It's a rocker inspired by Linkin Park, Garbage and Wolf Alice. You can certainly hear the Linkin Park influence and it works really well as a style for Ellen. The musical soundscape is great and the intro/chorus riff is a great hook. The arrangement of the song is well paced and the chorus is infectious. There are some change ups and pauses which make the return of the chorus really shine. Considering the sweetness of the first two singles, this is a bit a change in style... but one that works really well as it still feels charming. I can definitely sense more attitude and it's like the past self healing has worked. Ellen is possibly now ready to step into herself and move forward with confidence. She has every reason to feel proud and fully confident in this song. Go check it out!
